A Plea for the Dogs of Lebanon
| There is a heartbreaking reality unfolding in Lebanon that we can no longer ignore. More and more dogs are being found shot, severely injured, abandoned, and left fighting for their lives. It feels as though it is open season on innocent animals, animals who have done nothing to deserve such cruelty. A gunshot takes only a second. But the pain, fear, injuries, medical bills, and emotional scars can last a lifetime. These dogs trusted humans. Some approached the wrong person. Others simply happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. And now, they are paying the price for someone else’s cruelty. |

 Xaden Husky · 7 years A 7-year-old Husky, likely abandoned and still trusting of people. He approached the wrong person and was shot point-blank in the side. |
 Nyrah 2.5 years Only 2.5 years old, she was shot in the face and hip/leg and is now fighting to recover. |
 Marshie Pointer · 6 years A 6-year-old Pointer, shot in the face. A breed associated with hunting, yet another innocent victim of senseless violence. |
 Marlow Pointer · 6 years Also 6 years old and a Pointer, Marlow was shot in the face, left with injuries that may forever mark what was done to him. |
 Calluna Husky · 3 years Just 3 years old, this young Husky was shot in the leg and now faces a long road to recovery. |
| These are only five examples of the dogs we have recently taken in. Behind every one of them is a life, a personality, and a story that should have been very different. |
| They Need Us Now Their injuries require urgent medical care; surgeries, X-rays, medication, hospitalization, wound care, rehabilitation, and ongoing treatment. And with every emergency comes another medical bill. There are simply more dogs in need than we have resources to help. But we cannot turn our backs on them. They did not choose this. They did not deserve this. And their stories should not end with a bullet. |
