Flamina, a street dog being looked after by a good samaritan, was hit by a speeding vehicle.
The driver couldn’t even be bothered to slow down following the incident.
He looked at her in his rear view mirror and continued his drive like she was a mere bump on the road !
Flamina found refuge in the corner of a building, still heavily bleeding when she was thankfully reported to us.
We rushed her to the vet where she underwent all necessary tests and exams.
Thankfully her X-rays were clear of any fractures however her blood work came back showing horrible numbers !
Her infection levels were through the roof, it also showed extremely low white blood cell count, and she has chronic Ehrlichia, a tick-borne disease.
Her open extensive wound in her back leg will need to be treated daily by changing her wrap and applying proper medicine as frequently as possible to hopefully save it.
Her ears have been devoured, eaten away by flies, she was left with bits and pieces…
Despite everything she has been through Flamina is one of the sweetest dogs we have at the shelter, she is simply grateful for our help and sure knows how to show it
