Ziggy a very sweet 6 year old mixed came face to face with death when he was simply looking for some water during the very harsh heat wave a few weeks back…
Fed regularly by a street feeder, Ziggy went missing for a few days, which wasn’t in his nature.
Finally, when he came back at the feeder’s house, sweet Ziggy’s situation was beyond horrifying, leaving a heavy blood trail in his path, Ziggy was beyond grateful to have found a familiar face…
The sweet boy came back with a bullet hole where someone had shot him, the bullet itself tearing clean through his snout.
He was literally inhaling his own blood ,his wound covered in maggots and puss from a clear infection.
Ziggy didn’t deserve what he got !
He had learned to trust humans as he had been taken care of by many in the past, he couldn’t have foreseen what would eventually happen to him !
He never wanted anything more than food, love, and care from anyone !
Ziggy was rushed to one of our trusted vet hospitals, where his wound was cleaned, disinfected, and flushed.
His wound was carefully cleaned under anesthesia, every maggot extracted a very meticulous operation involving a skin flap to close off the wound, a very long and very hard procedure !
In his X-rays, you can see the bullet shrapnel that had traveled all throughout his head and body.
Thankfully, Ziggy is now recovering from this traumatic experience, he might however have permanent damage in one eye, we will be conducting more thorough tests in the near future !
Ziggy’s road back to full health will be a rough one.
The physical and emotional trauma he has survived won’t be easy to overcome.
With love and care , he will learn to trust again… He’s good with other dogs even though he keeps to himself.
