About RIATA
When Riata was first reported to us, she was a shadow of a dog, wandering aimlessly across a wasteland of gravel. No shelter, no trees, no garbage — just emptiness.
Her body was frail, every rib visible, her steps unsteady and disoriented as she searched for food in a place where there was none. We could tell she had been fighting for her life alone for far too long.
At just four years old, Riata was severely anemic and tested positive for Ehrlichia. Her bloodwork was devastating — her body was shutting down, but her eyes still held a spark.
When we finally got her, she didn’t resist. She simply leaned into our hands, as if she knew her suffering was finally over.
She received treatment, nutrition, and love — things she’s likely never known before.
She’s calm, sweet, friendly. She’s good with other dogs. DOB: 8/8/2021.
