About ATKINS
Atkins was rescued off the streets of Akkar.
He spent 3 full days on the streets unable to move, on the brink of death before being reported to us.
Atkins was found after being hit by a car, and left on the side of the road in Akkar.
He was rushed to the vet to receive all necessary tests and exams.
Which is when we learned that this innocent boy was dealing with much more than being struck by a car.
His xrays show that Atkins had been shot by 3 different riffles…
As if that wasn’t enough, he also tested positive for Ehrlichia and his blood work came back showing signs of liver failure, which in this case is due to his untreated Ehrlichia diagnosis !
Atkins has a long way to go, he was unable to move for a while because he had a hematoma as a result of the blow to his spinal cord, but with the proper treatment we started to walk again.
His complete recovery will be long and hard, he has many to challenges to overcome. Mainly if he will regain the use of one of his front leg or if we need to amputate.
