Dear friends, The world of animal rescue is quite a rewarding and intriguing one, and while we applaud the efforts of rescuers, we tend to forget the daily hard work required to see the amazing transformations of animals and provide them with a second chance at life, and the truth is, behind the scenes of animal rescues, lies a thorough follow-up, such as some of these cases that we rescued during the month of March. Elko the dog who was suffering from a severe case of Demodectic mange and a damaged front leg that needed an amputation, is currently responding well to treatment and despite all his suffering, he is one beautiful soul who is desperate to belong to a home.
Franky the cat who was hit by a car, underwent surgery to implement a feeding tube to keep him alive while getting treatment for a virus and bacterial infections. Franky has been receiving all the necessary treatment and will undergo two more surgeries to fix his mouth wounds.
Dainin the German Shepherd who was found with every part of her body severely infected, has undergone tests for Parvovirus and Distemper to Leishmania, Ehrlichia and Demodectic mange, and after weeks of tests, biopsy results determined she is suffering from Blastomycosis and currently undergoing treatment. Mickey, our latest rescue was found in a dramatic shape and after being stabilized for 24 hours, he underwent surgery to amputate his hind leg and tail that could not be saved due to necrotic tissue. The two 7-month-old brothers Jelly and Belly who were found emaciated and suffering from hypothermia, in addition to Demodectic mange, and they are currently in stable condition.
The animals need us and we will continue to speak up for them in their struggle to survive, a mission that we could not achieve without your valued and much appreciated support. As of now, fences for the dog areas and kennels are being set up, the horses’ stables have been built, and we are glad to announce that our horses and donkey will be moving to their new home in the next few weeks.
In the upcoming weeks/months, the focus will be on the kennels for dogs and the special designated area for seniors who desperately need a comfortable shelter that fulfills their needs. However, finishing up the construction has become more pressing, as it is only a matter of time before the unthinkable happens and the eviction notice is enforced and our hundreds of animals are thrown out of the current land, without having a refuge.
Your support has helped us achieve what seemed like a dream, and it is only your support that will provide hundreds of dogs, cats, horses, monkeys and a donkey with a decent shelter and a good life.
“A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is reality.” ― John Lennon
