Dear friends,
While the country’s economy is on the verge of complete collapse, social repercussions are affecting all fragments of society and the threat facing the animals is more imminent and worse than ever before.
Our team is currently drowning with requests of rehoming pets, mainly dogs and cats, and it is safe to say that requests have at least tripled in the past few months, for a very simple reason; With businesses closing down due to the crisis, tens of thousands of people have lost their jobs and thousands are currently working half-time and receiving half pay, and while shopping for groceries currently seems like luxury, people are unable to care for their animals and provide their basic needs, especially that all prices have increased greatly.
Moreover, given the unrest and fear of escalation, people are rushing into immigration without having time to plan for their pets’ travel, often leaving dependent animals on the streets.
To make matters worse, we are running low on food and more than 1,000 animals in our shelters are facing the possibility of starvation in the near future, as food providers are demanding to be paid in advance and refusing any other alternatives.
As the situation worsens, rising to the challenge currently is impossible without your help.
The local community’s hands are currently tied and the animals are counting on international support.
Please help us feed the animals under our care and continue to rescue animals in urgent need of help.
