Some chapters are sad, some are happy, and some are just meant to be.
In this month of June, we are happy and excited to say that despite all the hardships we have experienced in the last two and a half years, despite the pandemic, the ongoing economical and political crisis, the court order for our eviction and even despite our fight with time and resources, WE DID IT!
Thanks to all of you, our supporters, our benefactors, our volunteers, our collaborators, our light in the dark. Thank you for being there every step of the way, for making sure we never gave up and always overcome our fears and the challenges of our everyday mission to build a better future for our animals, the halfway home they deserve, the freedom of space they so longed for!
With the help of all of you, we finally managed to successfully move all of our dogs to their new home. Our official count for the new shelter now stands at 850 dogs, 2 monkeys, 3 horses, 1 donkey, 10 tortoises and 1 rabbit.
By achieving all of the above, we’ve proven that with your help anything is possible. We are not closing the book just yet, but just turning a page. As you all are aware, our work is never done.
The BETA cats’ turn is up, the long awaited light is now being shed on them, with the dog area being 96% completed. The construction of the cat area for our 250+ cats is now scheduled to begin. Plans are being drawn and phase one will consist of cleaning the land and setting up for the construction of the dividing walls.
We count on all of you to show our cats the same support and love you have shown our dogs, the same outcome they so long for.
A special thank you goes to the SPCAI, Mireille Girard, Catherine Bongard, Nina Assaily-Animal Welfare Association, Lori Kalef, Meredith Ayan, Marielle Saradar, Beatrice Ederer-Weber Foundation, Martha Sitwell, Beth White, Zack Skow, Tye Friis, Kim Desautels, and Emma Farrah.
RESCUE OF THE MONTH
SKYLER
Skyler is about 6/7 years old and was rescued from zahle with a huge tumor on his back.
Skyler’s only fault?
Being a helpless street animal uncared for and always overlooked.
Had he been in a loving home when his tumor appeared he wouldn’t have had to spend long months suffering with this growing monster on his back.
Skyler’s tumor has been removed and he is now experiencing all the love he so longed for on the streets at the new shelter.
PET OF THE MONTH
SENIOR LESTER
Lester is an adorable 10 years old Labrador.
He was rescued along with his sister Lotus from an abusive situation.
They both spent their life on short chains being used for breeding.
He is very sweet, cuddly, loving and Lazy.
All he will need is small walks and a lot of love.
Lester has been at the shelter for a very long time now and really deserves to retire in a loving home.
