While the future holds the unpredictable, there is no doubt that it looks gloomy currently with all the hardships and hurdles we are facing.
Lebanon is facing a critical phase, where mere survival has become the priority of more than 50 percent of the population who now live below poverty line, and animals, even beloved pets, are now seen as extra costs that most people can no longer afford.
With the increasing rates of abandonment, the number of animals in need and new urgent cases are skyrocketing, and despite our very limited resources, we cannot turn a blind to animals who are in direct danger and in immediate need of help.
Nemo the pelican was shot, and he is now recovering in an enclosure until he is ready to join the migration route next Spring. Eden, whose back was ruthlessly burned, is now healthy and acting like a puppy again. Anabelle and Boyt have completely recovered from her Demodex and skin infections, and Gaia, the kitten, can play again after she suffered burns in her front leg.
Moreover, there’s escalated pressure to finish the new shelter’s construction before the eviction notice from the current shelter is enforced and our hundreds of animals are left without refuge.
While hope is dwindling for some, we are trying to keep our morale high during these challenging times, especially that around 1,100 animals count on us and on the efforts and kindness of animal lovers around the world, in order to help rewrite their stories with happy endings.
We could not look them in the eyes and look away; They are in dire need of our help and yours.

But amid the huge explosion in the heart of Beirut, the economic crisis and financial collapse in Lebanon, along with the COVID-19 repercussions, exacerbated by political unrest and mounting tension in the region, progress has been slow due to the lack of funds.
Currently, a fully-equipped stable and a monkey enclosure have been built and work is ongoing to finish the dog kennels and the specially designed area for seniors.
We must finish the project before the eviction notice is enforced and our hundreds of animals are left without a refuge.
This is a plea of help to provide the animals’ basic needs such as food and medical care and to carry out our daily mission
This is a plea to come together and provide them with the safe haven they deserve.
Our country is living a tragedy.
